Description
Harris® low cost alloy for many copper to copper applications where moderate fit-up can be maintained and brazing temperature is Not critical.- Harris® Low cost alloy suitable for most copper-to-copper or brass joints where good fit-up exists and assemblies are not subject to excessive vibration nor movement
- This alloy flows quickly at brazing temperature so requires close joint tolerance, less than 0005 in is a frequent choice for copper brazing
- A suitable choice for brazing brass, operators should take care to avoid over heating the brass and use Harris® Stay-Silv® white brazing flux in this application
- Not recommended for brazing steel or other ferrous base metals, the phosphorus content will form a low ductility intermetallic with the base metal
- Corrosion resistance is generally similar to copper base metal, but phosphorus containing alloys, including Harris®, should not be used if the braze is exposed to sulfur or sulfur compounds in service
